Steve Walters is Senior Vice President and General Manager for ServiceNow Public Sector. Steve joined ServiceNow in 2020 as the Vice President of U.S. Federal, and took over leadership of the State & Local Government and Higher Education business and Global Public Sector in early 2024. Steve is also responsible for ServiceNow’s Global Public Sector organization, focused on delivering impactful solutions to solve mission-critical business problems for public sector customers across the world.
Prior to ServiceNow, Steve spent nine (9) years at Microsoft, where he served in a variety of leadership positions, including General Manager of the Civilian Agencies business unit. Before this leadership position, he was the Senior Director of the U.S. Army Account team and the Joint Account team after that. During his tenure, the teams he led were responsible for landing several strategic agreements and associated enterprise deployments across the DOD and Federal space.
Steve also spent time at Hewlett-Packard (HP), where he was as a senior account executive managing all U.S. Defense accounts world-wide for HP’s Information Management Division. In that capacity, Steve expanded the division’s software footprint into every Combatant Command, while also partnering with military leaders to establish some of the largest ECM/ERM efforts at the time.
Before entering the private sector, Steve was a Captain in the U.S. Army, where he served in a variety of staff and leadership billets. His last assignment was as a company commander in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University and a Master of Business degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
