As Director of Customer Experience & Human-Centered Design at the Department of Commerce, Doug Freeman brings over 20 years of digital leadership and experience directing and advising world-class brands and businesses in the U.S. and Europe. Doug has led the digital business divisions of Sprint, H&R Block and Century Link, advised on and led digital transformation at leading global companies spanning consumer products, energy, finance, agriculture and services and served as President and CEO of a digital marketing and advertising agency recognized with 22 Addy awards and honored by Forbes as one of the Top 100 Global Agencies. Most recently, Doug led the digital transformation efforts at the International Trade Administration, where his efforts were recognized with two ITA Star Awards and the annual Timothy J. Hauser Memorial Award.
Doug’s professional and humanitarian work has been recognized by Advertising Age, the American Advertising Federation, Streaming Media, Forbes, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, and the Chattanooga STEM school.
Doug resides in the D.C. area with his wife and co-author of their book Shaping Ordinary, is the father of three, and spends his free time studying, traveling, playing sports, and cheering on his beloved Kansas Jayhawks basketball team.
